The Upswing Fund is excited to announce the launch of our “Ask the Experts” video series! Over the summer months, we’ll be hosting conversations with our esteemed Advisors and other experts in the field on various mental health care topics. We’ll hear from researchers, policy advocates, and health providers on the state of adolescent mental health today - including the challenges facing youth, families, and providers, and hopes for the future of the field.

Through this series, The Upswing Fund aims to facilitate discussions on how to proactively serve LGBTQ+ youth and youth of color, highlight how non-profit organizations in the sector uplift youth leadership, and provide these videos as learning resources both to our network and change makers across the field.

In honor of Pride month, our first Ask the Expert session is on Gender Affirming Care with Dr. Jack Turban. In this session, he defines gender dysphoria and shares some of the physical and psychological dangers associated with care that is not affirming and inclusive. He goes on to suggest two key aspects of delivering culturally sensitive and gender affirming care as well as some resources for both caregivers and youth.
